Death Valley National Park, Zabriske Point
by Kevin McNeal
This is a 70-200 compressed image of the rocks at Zabriske Point at Death Valley. I used a Mor-Slo 5-Stop ND Filter to bring out the richness in the rocks

Kevin, help me here – how does a longer exposure (using the Mor-Slo ND filter) increase the richness in the rocks?

  2. Dianne Says:

Wow, this looks like a piece of suade or leather fabric. Wonderful colors, absolutely gorgeous spectrum….. and great shot. Thank you.

    Landscape or abstract art?!!!
    Truly a great work Kevin.
I thought you had used a polariser at first. Frankly I can’t fathom how lengthening the exposure would saturate the colors unless you underexpose, which you can do anyway.I take your word for it though.

Nice textures and color subtleties. Would make a good abstract painting.

  7. Fab Says:

Nice abstract picture. Would you be so kind to explain better your sentence “5-Stop ND Filter to bring out the richness in the rocks”? I’m not able to understand why a longer exposure time should deliver a crisper result. TIA

What a fascinating image! Like everyone else, I’m mesmerized by the amazing colors, shapes, and textures.

Please explain your “compressed image.” Does this mean the landscape actually took more space and distance, put the image was condensed to make it all look closer together? Is that done with a camera lens or with a computer? Thanks!
