Dead Desert Trees
by Russell Bevan
As you walk over the red sand dunes in the rising heat of the morning you are suddenly rewarded with a spectacular view. The remains of a forest still standing surrounded by the shifting sands are both an eerie and beautiful sight. Sossusvlei, Namibia.

This is a very oft seen location here on earthshots. Wonder what caused the forest to whither away. Must have been an oasis here before. We would love to have more information.

A nice, simple shot but a poignant story as this place must in the recent past have supported much more life than it does now.

Hey! I knew I had seen this place somewhere. It was in an Indian movie Ghajini, http://www.gobollywood.com/2008/12/ghajini-collections.html
I thought it was a film set out there!
