Higher Calling

by Marc Adamus

I spent a day and a half snowshoe-backpacking to be in this beautiful alpine landscape, high in Oregon's Three Sisters wilderness above Chambers Lakes, when the storms finally cleared. The clearing was brief but memorable. An incredible time to be so far, alone in the wild. It felt as if I was the only person to have ever seen this landscape, and in a sense, I suppose I was.

Marc,
I just knew the beauty of this terraine had to be Oregon. I’m a native and just love the grandure of it’s majestic mountains, especially Three Sisters. You have a keen eye and have captured it well. The colors are so representative of this gorgeous place. Thank you for sharing, keep up the great work!

Magical, absolutely gorgeous. Look at the bent vegetation, one can almost feel the force of the storm that had passed. The cloud formation over the peak is also fantastic. The golden color is ……….what , delicious!!

I believe that this moment that you caught has magic, it was the decisive instant, as said Cartier Bresson!!! Yor are a fantastic professional photographer. Congrats from Argentine.

The difference between ordinary & extraordinary is that little ‘extra’. You have given us the ‘extra’ in this fantastic shot. Thank you.

I am just curious, how much post processing is done to a photo like this? I see all these amazing photos and I wonder, are these exactly how the camera took the picture, no enhancing? Thank you for any thoughts.

The soft red sunlight in combination with the mountain silouette and the landscape profil coverd with snow is a beautiful panorama Shot.

Johnathan wants to know ‘how much post processing is done… ” The answer is ‘a lot’. In addition to what gets done before they go onto the web your own PC is post processing as well. I have yet to see a screen that does not distort the colours to some degree.

I, too, am from the Pacific Northwest, but unfortunately, I’m not able to get into the back country as you are. Sure am glad you could share this with us, though. It looks like a visual interpretation of “silence”. Really beautiful, Marc.
