This is a lovely shot, but your commentary leaves me wanting more. Where’s the sunrise/sunset shot? I’d like to see this with really dramatic lighting.

Great shot. For those who haven’t been there, this desert is not too far from the ocean and yes the sand is that colour. The sandstone formations are roughly about 1.5 metres high with some bigger and some smaller. It is a very surreal place especially at dawn and dusk with long shadows being cast across the sand.

The pinnacles can reach 4 meters high, even if the majority of them are smaller. The one captured was I think around 2.5 meters.
And yes the sand is really yellow.

Is the sand really that yellow? I have been to many deserts but never seen a large area of exclusively bright yellow sand.

I too, am looking for some sense of scale; Are these just a few meters high, or the size of a multistory building? They look like the Easter Islands heads, after thousands of years more erosion.
