Pinnacles Desert
by Romain Baluteaud
The Pinnacles Desert is located in the Nambung National Park, near to the town of Cervantes in Western Australia. The Pinnacles are limestone formations. The view of the Pinnacles is absolutely amazing, especially during sunrise and sunset.

So unlike anything I’ve seen here in the deserts of the U.S. Is your sand kind of yellowish like that? I viewed your other photos as well. Good eye all around.

  2. Anurag Anurag Says:

Mustard color of the sand is unique.

  3. su su Says:

What an unusual place, I have never seen shots of this before, love the colours you have captured.

  4. Pauline Jones Pauline Jones Says:

What size are the pinnacles? There is no sense of scale.

  5. Marie Dunphy Harding Says:

The golden sand looks striking against that beautiful sky.

  6. wanda krack wanda krack Says:

What an interestening sounding place. The colors of the sky and the contrasting desert are nice. Good luck to you with your photographs.

  7. Renee Renee Says:

    very neat shot!

  8. Rajib Singha Says:

    Congrats!

  9. Kirk Jordan Says:

I too, am looking for some sense of scale; Are these just a few meters high, or the size of a multistory building? They look like the Easter Islands heads, after thousands of years more erosion.

  10. Mesquite Says:

Is the sand really that yellow? I have been to many deserts but never seen a large area of exclusively bright yellow sand.

  11. mike mike Says:

    Nice sky background also there.

  12. justjack Says:

Great shot. For those who haven’t been there, this desert is not too far from the ocean and yes the sand is that colour. The sandstone formations are roughly about 1.5 metres high with some bigger and some smaller. It is a very surreal place especially at dawn and dusk with long shadows being cast across the sand.

  13. Laurie Laurie Says:

Excellent shot of a mysterious place!
Wonderful contrast in colors, textures, and shapes.

  14. Malta Photography Malta Photography Says:

great natural image. Its very well balanced the heat of the land with the cold air of the skies in blue.

  15. Katherine Lee Strassburg Says:

This is a lovely shot, but your commentary leaves me wanting more. Where’s the sunrise/sunset shot? I’d like to see this with really dramatic lighting.
    I LOVE deserts–born in Las Vegas…….
