Holy cow! Your timing must be perfect, as I can’t imagine anyone holding that pose for very long. I admire his physical prowess as much as I do your skill with the camera. Very unusual potd!

I agree with Katherine, beautiful timing and excution from both artists. One of the best POTD I’ve seen this year if not the best.

Great timing, just look at those muscles.

A stunning photograph.

Yes, the dancer is the forground focal point – and very good it is too, but there is so much more of interest here. Look at the faces of the watchers. The delight of blond girl on the left; the awe of the lady with the shopping bag to the right of the dancer, hands clasped ready to clap; the blond lady to the right, peeping round to get a better view. Wonderful feeling.

Oh, and the symbolic dove? pidgeon? gull? flying overhead- perfect timing!

Where was the photo taken?

Amazing! HDR?

What an amazing guy and he probably only gets pennies for what he does.

What a powerful shot. Good timing as well as angle to take the shot.

Looks like an hdr but I am pretty sure the guy was in motion. Very interesting image but it really looks retouched.

Wow! Very impressive! I wonder what was on the mind of the spectators – I enjoyed looking at their faces, since we can’t see the dancer’s. Congratulations.

Very cool shot. What’d you do as far as PP? Just a PS filter or..?

7th August 2009 at 1:39 pm

Hmm… Looks just like me. :) Oh to be so buff.

7th August 2009 at 1:57 pm

Fantastic shot Susan! Only if a little bit of motion element could have been fabulous. Good job done anyway.

When I first saw this, I thought it looked like a painting but didn’t say anything. Now I see Malta Photography says it’s probably retouched which fits in with my “it’s a painting” feeling. Nice painting, however.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. No, he was not in motion, he held that pose for quite awhile. I have several more of him and others on my flickr account.
It was processed in photoshop using Topaz adjust

wonderful…for a while I thought its a painting…the light and color is so weird in this picture

7th August 2009 at 5:19 pm

Very nice HDR – bit overcooked, but great shot! :O)

I love the editing technique used here Susan, a very subtle painting style, would love to see more of your pics. As the previous poster pointing out it does have the characteristics of HDR… Love it!

What a vivid, colourful shot this is. My only gripe is that their is not an explanation of how u acutally took this. Is it an HDR for instance.Very impressive all the same.

I did post it but for some reason it is not showing. It is a single shot. The only thing I did was in photoshop, I cropped it a little, then ran the Topaz adjust plug-in on it. Nothing else was done, nothing. He held the pose for quite awhile. Thanks to all of you for your comments

Looks like a fun show.

Wow, I STILL cannot believe this is a real photograph. As ebrahim said, it looks just like a painting! That’s how my brain sees it no matter how hard I try…

Guess I need to learn more about the capabilities of photo editing software ;)

Astounding! Even the muscles in his neck are bulging.
I, too, like the crowd…their responses, expressions, and cameras shooting from another angle. Also, it’s interesting and perfect timing to capture a bird in flight.

for a second it didn’t look real! thought it was a painting or something amazing shot!

Lovely shot, different from the usual ‘people’ shot.

This pic would make a great puzzle.

7th August 2010 at 4:25 pm

Excellent capture! Fabulous subject and flawless editing! That bird is icing on the cake!
I would have loved to be among the spectators!
An overall stellar shot!
