Silent Testimony

by Yoel Amram

The subject of this photo is the wreck of an old ship that slowly year after year gets covered by the sand on the shore, it's a silent testimony for some better days this ship knew, a testimony that will soon be gone.
Equipment: Canon 5DmkII, Canon 17-40, NDx10, NDGx3

Unusual photo with a perfect title. I see this as a type of time travel, as the wreckage will be covered, then at some future time an archaeologist will unearth it and wonder about our civilization.
Nice sunset–the low angle and streaky clouds add to the effect that this ship is being pulled into another dimension. Very nice!

Its also testimony to the awesome power of time and nature that ruthlessly devours even the seeming most solid and permenant structures.
Great use of the slow shutter and the wide angle.

You have managed to capture the sense of silent and the eerie in this shot, and very much a social statement.

Entropy at its most artistic.

So is this at the very edge of hight tide? I am suprised it doesn’t get bashed to bits. Wonderful contrasts.

The photo is an ample testimony to the proverb, ‘Time and tide waits for none’. Nostalgia all the way!
