Leopard

by SBL

A beautiful leopard lying on top of a fallen tree in the Okavango Delta. I used black and white to enhance the soft expression on her face and to avoid distracting colours in the background.
Equipment: Canon EOS 1Ds Mk III, 300mm f/2.8

This photo captures the strength, grace, and total peacefulness of this beautiful animal. What a marvelous photo–how lucky you are to be able to travel to such places, and how lucky we are that you share them with us!

Outstanding. This is like high end portraiture, but with a subject that is hard to direct.

Love the back legs hanging down on each side of the branch and the relaxed look in the face. Great
shot.

That’s a real sharp image. Perfect focus. Really like the shallow depth of field and the texture of the tree bark which seems to compliment the leapord’s fur. Curiously, I find the expression of the leapord to be very intense and alert as opposed to relaxed (I guess its a matter of how one looks at things).

I think the leopard looks relaxed too, if the legs were tucked up underneath, he could be ready to pounce, but with them dangling either side of the banch, he looks comfortable and secure. Like the b/w image shows great contrast. congrats

Lovely, leopards are beautiful animals.

To me…the expression is intense and along with the ear cocked back indicates perhaps a rousing from relaxing on the tree in response to something!. Thankyou for such a stunning photo of this beautiful leopard.

Posing in his own environment for his portrait, a lovely piece of work!

Beautiful – it’s the shallow depth of field that really brings attention to the leopard’s face here.
