Moon Beam

by Will & Matt B-L

On this day, 40 years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people to walk on the moon. To mark this anniversary we have submitted one of our favourite moon images. This is an experimental photograph that we took last year. It is a 15 minute long exposure of the moon rising. The resulting image looks like a beam of light coming from an alien spacecraft! We have written a post with some of our favourite moon photographs here.

How bright the moon can be! The clouds couldn’t have been more perfect for a long exposure like this. Thanks for commemorating the moon walk–an unforgettable achievement for all mankind.

Out of curiosity is this film (or slide/chrome). I am under the impression that digital can’t hold up to these kind of extended exposures. Am I wrong?

I’ve never seen such a sight. Better this way than never at all. Thankyou.
I was vacationing in Nova Scotia 40 years ago with my parents. I’ll never forget that day.
