Hi Charlene
You did a great job! It’s really a wonderful Mono Lake scenery and you photographed a wonderful moment.
Regards, Gerry Pacher
Nice! Where is Mono Lake?
Mono Lake is in CA – a very interesting spot according to some info on Google. I love the photo and hope you will keep on working with your obvious talent. Would have liked a little more info about you, Charlene.
Even the ‘Aliens’ are impressed with the fantastic sunset, ha!
Breathtaking! Amazing colors, wonderful shot. The sky goes forever! Reflections are outstanding. Thanks for sharing.
Mono Lake is one of my favorite places! Just last fall I finally trashed my ‘Save Mono Lake’ t-shirt–25+ years old. This unique salt-water lake/eco-system was saved with massive support by numerous eco groups. Los Angeles takes water from the watershed, so the lake was slowly drying up and dying–dust from the lake-shore blew so high and thick that it often made jet pilots think one of the dead volcanoes had sprung back to life. I love Bodie too, but I’m so glad you followed your instincts and stayed by the lake to get such a marvelous shot. Thank you for taking me ‘home’!
Sunsets make the best clouds and colors.
A beautiful shot with lots of things going on in the picture. Very nice subtle colors!
Excellent landscape! very nice colors and composition, congratulations!
Wonderful use of existing light and masterful processing.
Extremely well executed shot. I really like the sidelight on the rock formations and the fact that they are not obscured in the shadows.
Nice shot
I’m glad this place was saved, we don’t have to exploit the whole planet do we? Thanks for this lovely shot.
Wow–thanks for all the kind comments! It’s been a long time since I posted a photo to earthshots, and it’s wonderful to get a POTD.
Shot with an Olympus E-520, 11-22mm lens, two shots stitched together to get foreground and sky–but not HDR.
One word nice!
Lovely colours and those rocks are really quite scary – like they could come alive any moment!
