WOW!! That is beautiful-GREAT JOB !!
Technically speaking the fly is feeding upon a ring of smaller flowers (called florets) that comprise the “disk” or “button” of some kind of daisy. As is, members of the Compositae family (or daisy family) are really a kind of mega flower comprised of hundreds little flowers. As the daisy matures, the flowers closer to the center begin to bloom, and the button grows “out”. (Sorry for spouting off, but I learned all this after taking pictures of our local daisy types.)
Sick pic bro. Love it.
‘Hello sunflower’ said the short-sighted honey-bee to the bright golden circle. Sorry, I’m a complete novice, guys I thought I was looking at a piccy of a bee hovering over a sunflower until I read the notes. Whatever, beeeeutiful composition, lovely colours, the white petals splaying out from the golden centre give the image a wistful sort of delicacy. Well-deserving POTD, Matt, congrats.
Great photo and great composition!
Wow, wow, wow ( sorry Kylie) Fantastic shot.
The diameter of the flower ‘eye’ is in perfect proportion to the Hoverfly’ wings, interesting !
visually stunning… wow…
The shape of the wings make the fly look like an arrow right on target for the bulls eye! I appreciate a photo that shows us what we might otherwise overlook. The sharp focus and bright colors are wonderful.
Terrific composition, with that bilateral symmetry and all those radiating lines, actual and implied, and the delicate tonal variation in the whites. As a variation Why don’t you rotate the shot 90 degrees CCW. I think the result would be interesting.
nice macro very clear focus and pristine colors
The eyes are in focus so the fact that the rest isn’t quite crisp doesn’t matter; nice shot.
looks like u were so close to this shot! Congrats!
This is a view only taken from heaven. Matt, you’re blessed
