Steptoe Sunset

by Kevin Pieper

I was treated to one glorious sunset while in the Palouse. I purposely processed the foreground a little dark to keep more true to the light of the evening. This is also a blend of two images, the foreground shot at iso 1600 to keep the flowers still.

Not sure where Palouse is, but I would like to be there!

I don’t have the expertise (or the desire) to know how to do trick processing, but your result is true to nature–a beautiful sunset color-coded to match the lupines–peaceful as can be. Thanks for taking us to such a breath-taking place!

The Palouse is an area of rolling hills, and wheat fields.Mostly in Whitman County,( eastern Washington State ) I live here and see it every day and must give you Kudos Kevin , you really did a masterful job of capturing the magic of Steptoe Butte.
Also I dont feel that the Processing adds any unrealistic qualities to the image, It really is that breathtaking this time of year! Well Done!

This picture truly shows the beauty that God created and the gift in the one who captured it

DIGITAL photography; a far more required knowledge of the advanced form of old the style photo processing. Your wizardry and advanced knowledge of digital processing clearly speaks volumes thru this entire image, NOT to mention the craft in which it was photographed. CONGRATS!

Nice image overall. What i like most is the way the image introduces the viewer to the whole landscape.

Stunning view and the colours are beautifully captured! Well done!

Lovely photo but composition wise I would have preferred to see more sunset and less flowers, which take up more than 50% of the space on the screen. One trick is to do a sharp close up of one stalk and place it at the left hand side of the picture.
