The horseshoe crab has blue blood which is collected for research--something about the clotting or anti-clotting factor. The crabs are returned to the sea unharmed--except for a little humiliation. The egg-laying season is essential to the migration pattern of the Red Knot--a sea bird that migrates the Atlantic seacoast. Isn't it nice that this pre-historic creature can provide sustenance for birds, medical miracles, and 'soul-food' as well? Wonderful colors and exposure really let the viewer be ‘at the beach’.
