Egrets fishing in the morning light
by Mike Hall
Hundreds of herons and egrets start the day off gathering fish. The birds are fishing to feed their chicks. They fly many miles from the nesting site to fish.
Equipment: Nikon D200 Sigma 500mm
Mike Hall
Nature photography has always been a passion for me. I love to take along a camera when I hike the Ozark mountains in northern Arkansas. I’ve traveled the world taking pictures and always enjoy the natural beauty of my home state of Arkansas.

This is a very good ‘bird behavior’ shot. A friend called me from northern Calif. the other day to tell me about the egrets he was seeing in a wildlife refuge. Isn’t it nice that such beautiful creatures exist?

Great image indeed, the reflection gives a really good impression and even the way you gave a dimension by slightly blurring the furthest point.

Love the ambers, yellows, and early morning light colors in this photo. It’s a good mix and couldn’t have been painted by anyone other than our awesome Creator! Thanks for capturing this rare scene from nature and sharing it with the rest of us.

Those birds look happier’n a herd of mice in a grain bin! Excellent Shot, and I love the lighting.

How beautiful! Like Leslie, I thought of ballet, graceful dancers in white.

Wonderful nature image…true to life, nothing overly composed or cached. Like the DOF in this.

We have egrets on the river a few hundred yards away from the house… but not that many.
