Big Blue Eyes
by Laura Vink
A butterfly with big blue eyes, in front of a yellow coloured wall, was flirting with my camera.

I don’t recognize the butterfly. Most of the butterflies local to me have green eyes but the common blue has black eyes. Butterflies are hard to photograph because they are so active. Normally they are more torpid first thing in the morning when the air is cool but there isn’t much point taking the shot if the light isn’t right. In other words you chose a difficult subject and succeeded; well done.

Fantastic shot! I’ve never seen a frontal close-up of a butterfly and I am awed by the complexity and harmony of shapes and colors. And the expression is great, delicate and menacing at the same time. Congratulations!

  18. Kirk Jordan Says:

Agree with all, we so often see attention given to the wing pattern, so that this is a rare vantage. cool.
