Mountain Goat
by Kurtis Kronk
Near the top of Longs Peak I watched this mountain goat, shedding with the arrival of Spring, strolling up the mountain, apparently oblivious to my presence, despite being a stone's throw away. I suppose he had a hot date he was in a hurry to get to.

Whoa man do I like this! It reminds me of paintins by Bev Doolittle, in which she blends and hides shapes in a kind of light play camouflage. The replication of goat and white rock form is wonderul.

Sorry, this one not one of my favorites although its an interesting subject. Just a matter of taste.

The silvery color of the goat is most unusual.

I kind of like this capture but i would have given it more saturation maybe darken a little the hazy mountains.
Alex
This image is very good just because of the general faint and tenuous colors and light that make the goat look like a gost in a foggy, ghost-like atmosphere. The large rock nearby looks like another acommpanying specter. Good job.

Looks cold brrrrr….

Agree entirely with the comments of both Kirk and Alex. A very natural looking shot, empathic to the goat in its own environment. An excellent Earthshot.

Great capture! A mountain goat shedding its coat I have never seen. Thanks for the treat!

I like the shedding. It reminds me of what people must do

I agree with Kirk & Alex. It makes me homesick for CO. The saturation is perfect – very realistic for that neck of the woods.

Like humans, the goat doesn’t at all mind getting rid of that winter wardrobe!

Lol @ hot date!! I would have sure liked to see her as well
As regards the photo..its a perfect example of camouflage. And you caught it while it was shedding..thats great timing. And it also wonderful that you captured the habitat where the species lives wonderfully!

Excellent shot!

The more I look at this picture, the more I like it. The Goat does look otherwordly. Like a spirit in a spiritual realm. I like the mist in the background, it adds to the aura.
