Peacefullness

by Orvaratli

Last Sunday I went on a short trip to the Snaellsnes peninsula. The aim was to photograph the reflection of the magnificent glacier capped volcano on the tip of the peninsula. Unfortunately the weather was overcast and I never saw the volcano. I was pretty bummed about having driven all the way without being able to capture what I wanted. But as often when you least expect it something interesting pops up. These swans swimming together on the smooth lake in the twilight really made my day.

“But as often when you least expect it something interesting pops up.”

Love that line!

Peacefullness is a perfect title for this image, and the swans add so much awesomeness to it. :)

What a perfect shot for Easter Sunday. It is hard for me to put aside the worries and stress of life to appreciate the beauty of this day, but I am really trying. This photo helps. So tranquil. Time to stop and pay attention to the beauty around us, physically and spiritually. Thanks for an inspiring photo!

Is this in Iceland? Beautiful spot and the swans add life to the perfect stillness of the scene. Blue, however, is not my favorite color… I accidentally take blue pictures with my digital camera but I have no idea why they come out that way. Needless to say, I am not a photographer, just an art and nature lover, and I always admire your art.

The swans are perfect. Though I wonder about the lack of detail in the mountains, is it because of the mist or due to High ISO you may be using?

Really good photographers know how to help us really see what others are missing. This wasn’t the shot you wanted, but it has touched a lot of people. I’ll never get to Iceland, but I always know your photos even before I see your name. Thanks for sharing your beautiful images with us.

Thanks guys for the wonderful comments.

To answer your questions here are my answers:
“Is this in Iceland?”: yes, this is in Iceland.

“Though I wonder about the lack of detail in the mountains, is it because of the mist or due to High ISO you may be using?”: This is partly because I used high ISO but mostly its because the scene is frontlit which created shadows with little details on the mountain.
