Nice picture Nazrul. This picture almost perfectly shows the main geography of my ancestral homeland; a land that is mostly fluvial and with many hopeful eyes in an environment of misery.

Somehow, I get the impression that these people are not collecting for fun, but for survival. Without the background story, this photo feels stark and sad.

We have photos just like this in our family album--we all kept shells and rocks along our travels. Lovely photo of a quiet moment--we have so much more in common than we think. The textures of beach and water really come alive in b/w.

Taking all the color from the scene leaves us with a beach scene that instead of being colorful and natural, looks foreboding and surreal. Sand looks like dirt, the sky looks grey. We focus on the two skinny figures concentrating on picking up little somethings.... It is intiguing, and conveys a sense of unhappiness.
