Ah – beautiful shot – refreshing to see such a blend of people and landscape in the same shot. The colours are great, the action well captured especially with the drips, and the lighting looks almost studio lit! This is a great post for this site.

  2. Katherine Lee Strassburg Says:

Wonderful color and texture, perfect lighting, and the added human element really made for a perfect combination here. The simple act of sharing water while working becomes ‘performance art’.

  3. Kirk Jordan Says:

The lighting is so crisp, and the fill so golden, it almost looks like this is shot in a movie-studio against a projected screen. I know the background is real, but how did you pull off that deep fill on such a large scale? I only hope that these people are able to keep their indiginous dress.

  4. Ariel Ariel Says:

Wow, what a world! Love the lighting and colors!

  5. Anurag Anurag Says:

A wonderful shot and terrific lighting. The light seems to be coming from below , between the two children! is it sunlight reflected from a pond below. A reflector, flash or is done in Photoshop. Whatever it may be, its gorgeous and we would love to know the details.

  6. Su Su Says:

Love shots that glimpses other people on our planet just living. A great colourful social statement of a shot.

  7. Pauline Jones Pauline Jones Says:

Good colors, great to see a good harvest.

  8. Alex Says:

Great focus and good colors. It’s noticeable that the author defines the two little girls as “women”… this and their heavy loads, makes me think of labour exploitation of children typical in the far east.

  9. Malta Photography Malta Photography Says:

great colors and great composition. You were really at the right place at the right moment. and the unfocused background is just great.

  10. KeithT Says:

This is one of those shots made for Velvia fans. You have done a great job processing the file from your D60 however. Just the right amount of bokeh on those background terraces, and the wonderful pattern they produce, makes that drinking couple stand out in colourful sharpness. A delight to look at.

  11. Mandy Kilpatrick Mandy Kilpatrick Says:

I love the colors and composition of the shot. The crisp clean local clothing and the baskets full of corn, wow, there is just so much going on here. I agree the water dripping is a good action indicator. Was the background added later, or maybe they are standing on the edge of a dropoff or cliff?

  12. Wanda Krack Wanda Krack Says:

Very nice capture and good exposure.

  13. MGAK Says:

Amazing job. Wonderful coloration and lighting; great detail on the subjects and in the soft background.

  16. Ellie Ellie Says:

Perfect capture of natural light–perfect DOF FG and BG! Lovely interesting photo.

  17. Marie Dunphy Harding Says:

    A delightful shot!

  18. planet lover Says:

What a treat this picture is! I love the two young women and hope they can keep their native dress, as Kirk says. I also was stricken by the use of “women” to refer to them, but thinking about Alex’s comment, the fact is that in the “Third World” -where I come from- work in childhood is not always exploitation but often just kids helping their parents and younger siblings.

  19. Cris Says:

Beautiful shot and a wonderfully authentic moment captured! Well done!

  20. Derek Dobbie Says:

What a shot. Great colour and sharpness. Well done indeed.

  21. Aung Pyae Soe Says:

    Thank for comments .

  22. Laurie Laurie Says:

They are dressed in their work clothes?!? Their garments are so beautiful and colorful!

It looks like they are just taking a quick water break. They’re not getting much rest…still standing with their heavy loads!

This is an excellent, fascinating photo telling a cultural story about a far-away land. Very well done!

  23. Andrew Andrew Says:

Do they really still wear clothes like that? I respect them for not being a part of “jeans revolution”… Nice shot btw.

  24. Bill Etheridge Says:

Such beauty… Seems God created the scenery especially so his children could forever realize his presence. The photographer must have had this vision to choose this subject…

  25. Lakshmi Prabhala Lakshmi Prabhala Says:

This is an excellent travel image. The indigenous attire, the superb lighting and the wonderful backdrop wonderfully work together. Congratulations

  26. mike mike Says:
