The first sunbeams of the day began to burn away the fog as these five loons fished for breakfast. Viewed large you can see water dripping from their beaks after they surface after the underwater hunt. This is a wider crop from a previous photo.

Awesome image–I can’t believe this doesn’t already have a dozen comments. Foggy images are hard to get right, and I think you hit this one spot-on. The loons are fantastic, too.

This is a lovely nature shot, and the birds grouped together in their habitat in such a pleasing composition, shrouded in the early morning mist is great by itself, but then there’s that fog overhead that is just phenomenal. The colors and patterns – it looks like fine marble.

Great photo of loons as everyone expects to see them. This captures the mood of the lonely lake with the haunting call of the loon echoing through the fog……..way above average in my opinion.
