Stone Puzzle
by Orvaratli
This is the second time I have been onto this rocky outcrop. Its on the beach below the old shack near the popular Seltjarnarnes Viti.
I had to wade in ocean up to my knees to get there which was quite cold in winter in Iceland. Luckily the ocean was calm this day. I did not know if the tide was going up or down when I finally got there. Thinking that I was going to get into serious trouble if it was going up I started shooting. Again luck was on my side as saw the tide go down. If it hadn’t I would have had to spend part of the night on this small rock outcrop.
The octagon shaped stones are the top of basalt columns that are not that uncommon in lava rock!

Very interesting story to go with the capture of this most excellent image. Determination is in your soul, a true photographers attribute. The blue hue makes this a very moody shot. Well done and congratulations!!

  2. Katherine Lee Strassburg Says:

Iceland is rapidly becoming my favorite place, though my chances of going there personally are nil.
I truly admire your ability to ’see’ a great photo in your mind’s eye, and your craziness that helps you make the photo real for the rest of us! Remarkable color and other-worldly quality ….

  3. ziggy Says:

I can almost feel the rocks, I can feel my feet sliding on their surface. Lovely steely blue tones, the sky, the water, the rocks reflect each other, the soft flash of pink in the distance. The picture is so clear I get a sense of softness all around – except for that one craggy rock face in the left corner. Just to keep us on our toes. Thank you Overartli. Iceland is fast becoming my favourite place too. So many great artists – it must be the cold!

It makes me want to touch those rocks – put my hand on one. They look so cool and blue and moist. Also, the entire scene with all the hues of blue and the angle of the camera, just gives a magical otherworldly feel to the photo. Congratulations!!
