Yosemite National Park

by Kevin Pieper

Although the sunset this night fizzled at the end, the hour before was very dramatic, with fast moving clouds and the light popping in and out. This was a 60 sec exposure with about 10 stops of neutral density-ness added.

Now you’ve made me really homesick for Yosemite! I’ll read one of my John Muir books to ensure pleasant dreams of that magical place. Lovely effect achieved by the long exposure–almost as if we can feel the cold wind blowing the clouds away with the daylight.

I like the movement in the clouds and thanks for the technical details; you took a lot of trouble to get this shot.

I love the way you captured my favorite time of day; the movement of the clouds and the shade give it a sense of urgency: darkness is fast approaching… where’s my head lamp???

I love the moving clouds over the stillness of the Lake.

I like in this shot how you can see just a little bit of the sun rays on the tips of the mountains…very nice.

I like the photo, it does look manipulated, moreso than it is perhaps because of the leaning of the trees. I mean it does give the sense of motion with the clouds and the river looking all blurry. I especially like the way the sun lights up part of the mountains. Congratulations on your POTD !!
