Lonely Tree in Snow

by Vladimir Zivkovic

One lonely plum tree without leaves is surrounded by a snow covered field on a misty morning. The sky is partially covered by soft white clouds.

I'm 24-year old student from the town of Djakovo, in eastern part of Republic of Croatia. I study agriculture economics. I'm in love with nature since I was a little kid. That guided me to two important things in my life - to photography, which captures greatest moments in nature and preserves them for the future; and to agriculture, my future job. Also as a child, I have lived in a suburb, near fields, forest and water springs. I try to capture the beauty and essence of different subjects in nature, from capturing unusual sight of aurora borealis in my country, to closeup images of birds.

Very, very nice shot. So serene looking. I agree, would be a great inspirational poster or a book cover. Congratulations.

I see a tree person, leaning to the left, raising her limbs to heaven–probably praying for spring! Yes, I’m a little imaginative, but first I saw a lovely, strong photo, then I really did see the tree person. Your website is full of good things too. You sound pretty grounded for one so young–enjoy your life.

What a splendid transition from snow to sky. I don’t know if you helped it (by softening the line, but it almost suggests that that both cloud and snow-cover are of the same essence. Which they are.

Nice shot, though the idea of shooting a solitary tree is a very mature subject, the distortion of the wide angle gives it a unique look. There is a bit of lack of detail in the area to right of the tree.

It’s hard to see where the earth ends and the sky begins….. The brilliant blue is such a lovely contrast to the black and whiteness of the photo.
I agree with the artist that the tree looks lonely – and happy to see some company! Congratulations on your POTD !!

It looks very lonely but we have the assurance that when the snow melts there will be a whole different story.

Excellent photo. Although this is a recurrent theme, each tree tells its own story. This is one of solitude and calm and I love it! Thank you.

I never tire of tree photos. This one is great.
But it looks like a summer sky with the snow-
intriguing. Thanks for the “look.”

Nice colour in the sky and good composistion. Ever tried shooting in black and white as this would be an interesting shot for mono.
