Where is this?

Where is this place? It seems almost unreal with everything glazed over and shiny.
The colors are so vibrant. A great shot!

my first guess would be Yellowstone Ntl Park… only because that’s the only famous place with geysers that I know of. The colours and textures are really surreal- cool!

Excellent shot. The algae is so green and beautiful. That geyser is phenomenal, we must get out to see it. Great job! Congratulations.

Is this in Nevada? This is surreal, so perhaps it’s near Area 51. The colors are amazing, and I especially like that you have included the horizon to indicate the vastness of the area. Please tell us location, so we can add it to our list of places to visit on our next trip west!

Great capture!

It is in Nevada. Just Google the term “Fly Geyser”. What I have read it is on private property. It seems to me that you need to get permission from the owner of the land to view the geyser in person. I hope that help.
P.S. I did ran into a picture of this geyser before but I didn’t know what the name of it. However, I knew it was in Nevada. I Googled the term “nevada geysers” and saw the heading “Fly Geyser Nevada”. I click on the link and brought me to a page. I then click on a link that said “photo after photo” and found what I was looking for. You can find the info on the first page about it being on private property.

Absolutely gorgeous, on multiple levels. The color scheme, perfect composition, What an awesome subject. The only area of improvement may be in the harsh light. In fact I should say despite such harsh lighting conditions you pulled off a beauty.
Looks like a scene from one of the Issac Asimov’s novels.
Su
Awesomw shot, could be the scene for a sci-fi movie. congrats
Pauline Jones
Looks like another planet; brilliant.

Besides the picture being technically in place, the image is so well composed and considering all the subjects in the area, the image gives attention almost to all of them. the colors the lighting is good accept the lower right hand where it is a little over exposed, there might be some empty data there but all in all its a very good shot indeed.
Alex
I agreew with Pauline: looks like another planet!
Great shot.
Lorraine
Oh my this shot has made my day. Thank you.

Where is this most extraordinary place? Is there some trick here? It is too wierd. The rocks from which the geyser is issuing look like animals – maybe elephants. I want to go there!
Nazrul Islam
Good capture

Where is this? Great shot, wonderful composition.

At first I thouhgt it was photoshopped or anything, but when I took a closer look, I was amazed. Where is this place? I’ve got to know!
Fantastic picture, and absolutely surreal. It looks indeed like another planet. Great shot!
Lisa Atkins
To Katherine, this geyser is located in the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada. It’s close to the borders of Oregon and California.
Andrew
Too pretty!
Renee
Simply stunning! Lost for words on this one but a great photo!

If you go to the Archives and go to November 17th 2008 there is the same image done differently both great shots and both very different!

I like the fact you did not tell where this is!!
What an amazing photo and obviously what a magical place!!
I can not tell if it is 1000 feet high or 10 feet. By the ocean or inland.
excellent!!

Eileen
That’s crazy good. Nice shot. EZ

Thanks, Lisa. I was born in Las Vegas, but I have never spent much time in Nevada except to pass through between Calif. and Michigan. Now that I’m retired, I hope to be able to spend more time wandering around enjoying the view!
planet lover
Great photo. I suppose it is a good idea not to tell where these places are so they don’t become tourist attractions and are eventually destroyed. On the other hand, basic information about the location is helpful to those of us who want to learn as much as we can about our planet.
Mandy Kilpatrick
I never knew this otherworldly place existed either! Beautiful composition and colors – what a great shot!! Sure makes the imagination work overtime as well. Congratulations!
hassan
Wow, it seems that the shot’s been made of plastic!, it’s dificoult to imagine that this place is real!
Sue Gagnon
Surreal photograph! An amazing vision to share with us all. There IS still beauty and intrigue left to discover on this beautiful planet!
mike
I never seen nothing like that before.
