Portal
by Kirk Jordan
Folks who read fantasy or science fiction may join me in seeing a “portal” to another world. This is a straight, but slightly over-exposed shot, twenty seconds at night with a drippy fog. Illumination is furnished by way of a streetlamp.
Equipment: Nikon D-300, 16-85 zoom

Kirk Jordan is a photographer for the State of Arkansas.
As is, my day job involves a lot of grip and grins of persons in suits, so I relish the after-hours photo hobby when I frame Arkansas’ flora and fauna. I particularly like to take pictures of natural things in less conventional ways. I try to press beyond pure naturalism, to suggest the blending of the material and spiritual worlds.

What an excellent image with description to go with it. I don’t read fantasy or science fiction, but do see a “portal” to another world. Nice moody shot. Congratulations on your POTD!

  4. Katherine Lee Strassburg Says:

Perfect name for an imaginative potd. Is this a close encounter with extra-terrestrials or is this the eternal light into which we all must pass? I especially like the dark central tree, elongated by its own shadow.

  5. Anurag Anurag Says:

Had it not been for the description one would take it to be the sunrise!

  6. Su Says:
