Dragon Fly
by Madelene de Jager
I shot this image on a very hot summers day on a farm in the Avontuur Valley, Loskop dam, Mpumalanga, South Africa... camera on aperute priority and hand held... got a very bad sunburn, but a great image... never believed I would be able to get one of the dragon flies...
Equipment: Nikon D300 and Sigma f2.8 macro 105mm
Madelene de Jager
It started out with taking photographs of my daughter and the horses I had... then I started to take photographs at the school where I worked, at the shows when my horses competed, when our little boy was born, at the rugby club, other school and sports venues... love what I am doing... member op PSSA (South Africa). div>

Great colors for a dragonfly, I never would have known!

As a dragonfly photographer myself I can tell you that your focus is dead right. The essential thing when photographing humans and animals is to get the eye in focus; the rest matters much less.
Renee
I like the color in this shot its eyes look so huge in this photo.

This is a wonderful image. Thanks for the great detail of the wings–hard to get, I know. I’m trying to design a beaded dragonfly pin–have worked on it off and on for years, and your photo has inspired me to try yet again!
