Hide and Seek

by Josh Exell

A fine sunny day down at lyme regis. This little crab was being battered around by the small waves in the harbour it finally crawled to saftey and hid from the outside world.

Very nice image. Great clarity and I especially like the faded background of the boats.Gives it a great effect. Well done and congratulations!

Very interesting subject matter and composition with the placement of the crab. I can also relate to seeking shelter and withdrawing, both literally and figuratively after a difficult time. Congratulations!!

Oh my God, its a crab?!! At first I thought you cought a live shell. Really great image, very good perspective and subject placement. You just need to white balance a bit for the colors to pop out and the compliment of blue-red / blue yellow(of the shell) to play out.
A very refreshing change here on Earthshots.

Well done.

I wouldn’t change the colours – they are realistic just as they are. Perfect depth of field and clarity. Well done!

I checked out your website; its pretty good, I liked a lot of the pictures especially Seascape and Lost and Alone. If you can do this quality work at eighteen I wonder what you’ll be doing in your twenties.

Congrats, firstly on your fine shot of the hermit crab and secondly on finding a sunny day in England.

From the moment I saw your shot, i knew it was something special, and, upon further investigation, I was sheerly mesmerized by the capture. Glad to see he was salvaged to live another day, yet his fate is today unknown. I love the shot. Thanks and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Kwanza, Merry Yule, Happy Hanukkah, and everything i may have missed. Sorry if spelling is off. :0

I like this shot very much because of its spontaneousity its composition balanced lighting and colors and most of all because it is a ground shot.

This reminded me of George, a hermit crab we had as a pet when my son was small. George went through three sizes of shells while he was with us, though looking back, I imagine he would have preferred the dangers of an open beach like this one. A great photo and composition for someone so young–keep up the good work.
