Crater Lake Sunset

by Brian Rueb

Late Fall conditions leave Crater Lake National Park in the early stages of winter. Throughout the course of the season over 500 inches of snow will accumulate in the park leaving it shrouded in a blanket of white. On this particular evening, my vehicle was the only one in the parking lot, and myself and the photographer I was with were the only ones to document the magic that happened at sunset.

Woooohoooo! This is beautiful. We have seen many an image of Wizard Island and Crater Lake, but this surpasses in beauty all that we have seen. Excellent!!

I do wish people would always indicate where a shot was taken. Presumably this is somewhere in America? I infer this from the language: ‘fall’ and ‘parking lot’ but lakes in craters can be found in so many places . . . I have seen spectacular ones in Iceland and in New Zealand.

This is a lovely sunset–my favorite time of day, especially in the mountains! The colors are soft and blend and reflect in the lake, making this one restful POTD. Thanks so much.
