Wild Goose Island

by Michael Cassidy

The smoke from a nearby fire highlighted the suns rays as they raced across St. Mary's Lake in Glacier NP. After two hours of waiting one finally struck Wild Goose Island.

This is an outstanding shot! You must know nature well to be willing to wait so confidently for just the right moment. Sunlight and shadow–you made the most of them, and I thank you for it.

I wish I were a poet, so that I could post a worthy comment.
Ever since childhood I have have been mesmerised by these corpuscular beams. Likening them to how fishes might see their world with the sun rays filtering down from the ocean surface above. This shot portrays that imagery exactly. Looking at the image one feels that we are living in another ocean of air residing above the other ocean of water.
Thanks for the lovely image.

When I was little G-d was portrayed in my religion books by rays just like that coming from the sky or at least that is how I remember it.
i think that is a fitting description for your beautiful ( an understatement) photo,

This is a lovely use of light; you were right to make it monochrome to blot out all distractions; well done.

great shot and use of the right exposure. I really like the balance between the black and the white parts especially the center part of the image. Well rewarded patience.
