Oh my goodness, they are so pretty. I love to see good pictures of birds. Do they really eat bees? Good show!!!!!!!!!!!! EZ

Beautiful! Yes, they really do eat bees, as well as wasps and other insects. They hunt flycatcher-like, from a perch, flying out to swoop up a bug, then back to the perch to await another. They remove the stingers when necessary by hitting their catch repeatedly against a hard surface. These appear to be European Bee-eaters. The sexes are similarly colored, so this is most likely a mating display. How wonderful to get such a good photo that a few seconds of research can help me identify a species I’ve never seen in the wild! Thanks so much.

What a wonderful shot. Of course, I love the colors, and the spread tails and the one playfully biting the other…and the clarity of the red eyes. Excellent in every way!

I adore these birds, they are gorgeous, as is this photo. It is very well done, and Happy Birthday to the best shot publisher I know. Fabulous capture of the creatures on this lovely Earth we all share. Thanks!

I’d love to have copies for note cards.

Your beautiful photograph looks similar to a photo I took recently in our back yard. We have rainbow bee eaters burrowing their nests each year on our property in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. We can sit and watch them for hours at a time.
Where did you take this photo?
