Observer
by Orvaratli
Here is my wife posing as the observer.
This day the moon was shining bright, making the foreground much more visible than with non-snow, non-moon Aurora shots.

This is just fantastic – what an amazing sight this must have been. Although I think it might have been a better shot without the observer in the foreground. Thank you.

The purple-magenta dress of your wife really compliments the green of the aurora. Was it intentional or serendipity?! For a greater impact I would have liked to raise her head a bit more. Right now it looks as though she is looking at the hills in the distance rather than the aurora.
Your wife did well on managing to stand still for that long!

This is what photography is about: capturing and recording unique moments that show how wonderful this planet is. I wonder how you could get the stars so bright and still: in a short exposure they would not be visible, in a long exposure there would be the typical traces.

Absolutely stellar vision! Very impressive!
Marie Dunphy Harding

Magnificent! Was this in Iceland? What time of year?
Miriam
Amazing shot, like you said, very different than the dark Aurora shots.

Wonderful photo. We are lucky enough to be able to see the northern lights here (Michigan, USA) from time to time. My sister and I actually step outside in the middle of the night to see whether they’re here. If they are, we jump into the car, go to the all-night service station for coffee, then drive down a dirt road and park to watch the spectacle until the cold forces us home. I got totally lost in your website a few weeks ago–you have the BEST photos of the Aurora that I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing this experience!

Amazing! Where was the shot?
Kirk Jordan
Stellar. And I love the inclusion of the person. Without her the Aura is the sole wonder. With her, we are moved to consider: Who or what are we – spinning through space, that we can comprehend something of glory.

Very excellent indeed, Congrats!

It lacks a dramatic touch and the colors does not give any story to the point of the captured frame. Still, amazing shot.

Congrats, makes me want to visit your country to see this wonderous sight.
