The classic Kingfisher Shot. Almost cliched.
What makes it stand out is the degree of close up focus and the vibrant colours.

I can imagine all the trials and tribulations you went through to obtain a shot as this. I love how the dof really accentuates the wonderful colors of the bird. Superb effort.

Texture comes to mind, almost what he might feel like to the touch–color, sharpness and DOF is stunning. Spectacular.

Very nice! I admire your tenacity and your environmental ethic (just checked out your website.
I like the fact that his feathers are ruffled–it makes this less of a ‘postcard’ and along with the lichens on the branch and the ‘crumbs’ on his beak, it makes the viewer feel as if we just watched him alight.
