Untouched morning calm! Gorgeous shot. I just love the soft colours of the sky.
Wonderful relaxing image. The dawn of a new day on an ancient landscape–a testament to the tenacity of life. It made me think of snowdrifts, so I checked out your winterscapes too!
One of those shots where you can just sit back and enjoy the image.
Gorgeous!!! Excellent color. Congrats on your win!!! Well deserved!
Love it, love the colours, so calm
Nice colors , harmonious and very clear shot. The shades all blend in very smoothly. well done.
Georgeous and inspires me to plan the next vacation! Thanks for sharing your art with us! The colors blend into one another seamlessly.
Did you do any editing with your photo editing software? I use and love ArcSoft.
Noise Ninja is an incredible software program that cleans up the sky from noise. Picturecode.com is where anyone interested can ck it out.
Mark in Arizona
We have seen the same spot by the same photographer on 10th April 2008.
Where are the White Sands? Lovely shot.
Yes, that one does seem a little familiar.
a very serene, unspoilt scenario.
Soothing and delightful image. Thank you for sharing the silence and tranquility of the desert.
I like this shot. Sorry Anurag but this is not the same spot. Horizontal, vertical, different plant, different view… probably the same place.
Nice lights but the plant looks a little awkward, not very photogenic. The clean landscape without plant would have been perfect.
Beautiful colors. I’ll keep it at hand to help chase the noise and stress of the day. Thanks.
Lovely, worth viewing again.
I totally agree with Anurag. We have seen the same shot before. What is the deal, I thought we were supposed to see all new all original shots on earthshots.org?
For Mark–White Sands National Monument is in New Mexico, USA. To Alex–this yucca has fought the same and extreme heat to survive–its dead foliage may have been temporarily covered by sand and only recently re-exposed (You might prefer the 4-10-08 shot). For those who think this is a duplicate photo–not so. Yes, it’s a classic shot, but the yucca is not the same plant, the view on 4-10-08 is from a different angle with two plants and different texture to foreground. Thousands of people might take photos in the same area, but no two are ever alike due to lighting, wind conditions, and even the height of the photographer. Nature is ever changing yet ever the same. I’m never bored with POTD–even the ones I don’t particularly find appealing, as they offer new points-of-view to expand my artistic sensibilities!
Well they sure do look alike Katherine but it is a nice photo! But i would have not even known unless Anurag pointed it to my attention, anyways well done Gerry on both photos!!
this looks kind of familiar.?
Simple, serene beauty. Very peaceful.
Thanks, Katherine, for the good information.
Since both of Gerry’s photos were taken in White Sands, it is the same “spot” but not the same “shot!”
very well done
Very minimalistic as the color of the sand reflects the color of the sky but as a composition it works very well.
I love white sand. Never seen it in person.
Great shot!
This shot is indeed breathtaking, just love the serenity.
