Tribal Dancer

INDONESIA, CENTRAL JAVA, 11 AUGUST 2008: dancer is preparing during a mountain festival. The festival is gathered mountaineers community from five major mountain in Java: Sindoro, Sumbing, Merapi, Jaran & Merbabu. Besides hold an mountain performance art, they also hold an discussion about politic, economy dan enviromental issues related their daily life as mountaineers.

Danu Primanto

Primanto, 28, comes from a worker family in East Java, Indonesia and studied architecture at the Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University. He is a freelance photojournalist and award-winning documentary filmmaker, drawing his inspiration from the relationship between social and visual issues. He is currently working with several NGOs in Java to document the region’s rebuilding in the wake of 2006’s devastating earthquake.

I wonder if the tilt is deliberate, but neverthless its giving an interesting effect.

great shot, we can see a part of that population history, and its development, infact the man on the right is dressed not in traditional clothes, as they do in the everyday life. I like also the wall and the bamboo structures (other contrast of times…)
