Maui Rock Garden
by Gerry Pacher
Maui has two faces. On the one hand there are the wonderful beach houses with all the nice places but on the other hand also the pure nature. Ka'anae is one place which is definitely worth to visit. The lava rocks are amazing and the shoreline is very unique. I captured this scene before sunrise.
Some technical information:
- Canon 1ds Mark II
- Sigma 120-300mm (at 221mm)
- ISO 200
- f14
- 8 sec
- developed in Lightroom 2.o
Enjoy the rocks!

Amazing location and processing, Gerry!

Your post processing is really excellent. Just what postprocessing should be, an art form which is an extension of Photography or should I say the final leg of photography itself – *today’s darkroom*. There is absolutely no hint of artificiality to your images.

I must agree with the previous comments, it looks clean, bright but not too much just the right lighting everywhere. Great shot, it communicates by itself.

Beautiful capture! Love the monochrome effect!

Nice rocks and nice shot.
I would love to see the raw file without processing just to see to which extent the processing was used to. But I guess that question cannot be answered here..
THX for sharing.

Looks like another one of your images that make me think of an outer worldly terrain. Very intriging and very mystical. Bravo.

At first I thought this was a highly manipulated picture of cumulo-nimbus clouds taken from the air!

The jagged rocks are fascinating, much more interesting than the beaches!

This is the kind of poster I would not put on my living room wall. Too “dantesque”. Great shot all the same and deserve to be shown in an appropriate space.

Beautifully done – both the original exposure and the post processing.

Eerily dark and mysterious. Reality made abstract, and visa-versa.
