Beautiful clarity, Inder, but I wish you had included some more information: Just got the word from an Iranian friend, this is a Bah’ai Temple (think that’s how you spell it.) The Bah’ai movement began in Iran (where they’ve built a Water Temple) and another small and beautiful compound in Tel Aviv, Israel. However Bah’ai followers have been persecuted and tortured in Iran and many have had to flee for their lives. Amazing where beauty can spring, innit?

  2. Ahmed Sharif Says:

nice capture of a beautiful structure!!……

  3. Anurag Anurag Says:

    Nice capture.
The Lotus temple is a great spot for photography, giving one the opportunity to explore many creative angles and perspectives.

  4. Anurag Anurag Says:

……….the slanting horizon is a bother, could have been easily corrected.

  5. realimage Says:

Reminds me so much on the design of the most beautiful opera on the most beautiful harbour….
However it is worth looking for Bahai Temples. The one in Germany near Franfurt is smaller but also beautiful, whereas the Sydney one is not that spectacular.

  6. Inder Gopal Says:

Thanks for your appreciative comments to my submission.
Yes it is the Ba’hai’s Temple in New Delhi visited by people irrespective of the faith they follow. As is the outer beautiful this structure, so is the peace and tranquility with in its domes that astonishes the visitors.
@ Anurag - the slant you are talking about is an illusion as the trees on the right and the left have different heights. Even the foreground is quite in line. Thanks for the comment and observation.

I’ve met people of the Baha’i faith and although I don’t agree with their beliefs I found them to be nice people; they certainly know how to build beautiful things.

GReat tonality throughout the white “roof” no blowouts, no black areas…beautiful exposure.

  15. Sanjeev P Says:

The Baha’i Lotus Temple is one of the most beautiful buildings in New Delhi. I love the perfect exposure between the azure sky and and the floodlighting on white stone. Wish there was more detail in the foreground though. Anurag, I think the horizon is like that because there are some small hills behind the structure..

  16. TomBrooklyn Says:

  21. bw photo Says:

I am a bahai’ who lives in Michigan. Several of our beliefs are world unity, elimination of prejudice of all kinds, and that there is one God for all religions. For more info go to www.bahai.org. I am also a photographer, and had the privilege to see the house of worship in Wilmette, Illinois (north of Chicago). All Baha’i temples are built with 9 sides, with a dome on top, otherwise there are no restrictions at to how they are to be built. The photo above is a beautiful HDR image, love the color.
