back-lit butterfly wings are beautiful

Excellent! Though composition wise I dont like all the empty space in the upper right half, the overall composition is quite good. very good pose. I know how difficult it is to capture these skittish creatures and you did a very good job.
I would like to know the focal length, F and shutter numbers and the iso. Did you dial in any exposure compensation or is it straight from the matrix meter, – if you can oblige
Thanks for sharing.

Butterflies don’t pose so to get one in the right position with the right light is quite an achievement. We have had a very wet summer so far in Ireland so there have been very few butterflies. Where is global warming when you need it?

Good one, however I am not sure if I need to agree with Anurag on the right part of the image.
Might also add to the butterfly to have the right part really empty…

Yeah I must agree, when you get such beauty in front of just shoot and get some safe shots however once done I would try to experiment with different angles. maybe you have tried doing so but this creature moved away. I like the shot and the angle but I would have burned the background a little bit to get the subject more attention.

Such divine beauty.
Brings to mind a lovely quote:
“The butterfly of the soul must be freed to spread its wings of beautiful divine qualities.”

It must have taken a lot of patience to capture this shot. You did a grand job.

The color scheme is beautiful, with green and white and many shades of brown.

I thought this picture was awesome! I too thought the fading on the right added more contrast and focus to the subject. Great job future professional.

really exquisite – a wonderful, natural and extraordinary picture that brings me closer to the world of butterfly – you are truly an artist.

Amazing! Just amazing.

I think the composition is great. Having the butterfly off-center is more interesting than having it smack in the middle of the shot.

Like the composition of this shot.

Mundane object turned pretty. Good observation Mike! All the best.

I agree with Mike it’s weird that this butterfly has hardly no color, still a great shot!
