Blue-Nosed Chameleon
by Judith
I found this blue-nosed (or boettger's chameleon as the nose isn't always blue) chameleon (Calumma boettgeri) in a tree close to our campsite hiding from the rain in Montagne d'ambre national park. The park is an isolated patch of montane rainforest in northern Madagascar. Being generally pretty slow animals makes chameleons good models. Even when they walk, they move slowly to imitate a leaf in the wind which keeps on making me laugh even after having seen it a dozen times.
Equipment: Canon 40D, Canon 60mm macro lens

I took some good chameleon pictures in the local pet shop; it must be great to see them in the wild.

A curious looking creature for sure.
I had hoped to see a shot of something Canadian or at least a Canadian photographer featured for CANADA DAY.
