Arrow Peak over Bench Lake, High Sierra
by Buck Forester
Bench Lake is one of the prettiest lakes in the Sierra, in my opinion anyway, and Arrow Peak dominates the skyline in a spectacular way. It was so beautiful we took a layover day here and we saw no one else the entire time. I love this magical place. It is in Kings Canyon National Park.
Equipment: Shot with a Canon Elan 7; Fuji Velvia 50 film; Canon 17-40mm lens; 81B warming filter; 2-stop soft GND filter.

I love seeing pictures of places I have been. I like that you can see logs in the water with the reflection of the mt. Good show. EZ

  3. Lakshmi Lakshmi Says:

Excellent scenery ..so tranquil and peaceful! The composition and colours are lovely. The reflections provide for some wonderful symmetry!

  4. Anurag Anurag Says:

Yes indeed a wonderful landscape with the exposure perfectly managed for the slide film. In these days of digital, managing the exposure is not an issue anymore. You have instant review on the LCD and of course you have Postprocessing to manage even the biggest goof ups in exposure. It is altogether a different ballgame with transparencies. Very well done sir! I cannot even makeout the line of transition of the Soft GND over this uneven Horizon. - Wonder if that was post processed.
Specially noteworthy is the detail of the floor of the lake partially visible through the reflection.

  5. Ahmed Sharif Says:

  8. Pauline Jones Pauline Jones Says:

I like the tree in the water underlaying the reflection of the mountain and giving the picture a further dimension.
