I live in the sun-drenched U.S. South, and I love overcast settings. Maybe that’s why I totally appreciate this photo! Exciting flowers in a calm setting. Wonderful! I’ve noticed when taking wild flower photos that a dark background makes for a good balance.

Kevin, this is spectacular! Was it taken in that hilly section from the viewpoint? It’s one of the most colorful areas of broad-leafed Columbia Gorge lupine I know of.

The sky is washed out, but I think it worked to your advantage, because the star of the show is the flowers. Your work is beautiful!
