Mystery Night

by Kevin McNeal

This was taken at Phieffer Beach along the Big Sur coastline that I recently vacationed at. I was not met with the best of weather conditions so this is what I choose to do to make something out of nothing. Cannot wait to go back when there is sun!!! 30 second exposure and f/16 ISO 200
Equipment: Canon 5D 17-40L Tripod

Very unusual. Though lack of any detail in the lower part of the image makes it look a bit flat.

Nice shot and the ambiguous give it some scary effects, also the mountains are very clear, and the colour seem like monochrome

That certainly looks mysterious!!…….. nice long exposure!

Very nice effect. So simple but so effective.

A bit dull for my tastes but I like the rock at the end; it looks like some giant creature that is about to awaken.

An interesting and dramatic photo. Too much critism from others. A unique opportunity with
inclement weather and fog to look at a place
that is most likely sunny 90% of the time.

I loved the fact that when I first saw the shot I thought it was the mountains and then could laugh at myself to find out it was on the beach. Love that rocky coastline!!

Great job on putting this together and capturing this. Having been with you on the trip and knowing the weather wasn’t cooperating, you made a nice composition out of this! Nice leading angles, mysterious with great textures!

Keep it up! Looking forward to the next one.

Living in Washington we learn to deal with the weather. This is a very interesting shot that took advantage of the weather situation.

Mysterious yes. Beautiful too, but there is a little too much white in the picture for my liking.
