Last Light El Capitan

by Richard Duerksen

New Year's Day after two feet of snow, it was actually hard to get to the edge of the river at Cathedral Picnic Area. I waded through, and was rewarded with a last light orange glow on El Cap.

This is definitely the most unusual view of El Cap that I’ve ever seen. Even up close and personal, I’d recognize it anywhere! I commend you on your dogged determination to get just the shot you wanted!

A very nice colour combination of orange and light cyan.

Even if you didn’t mention that you use Canon cameras, I knew so instantly by the way you named Nikon D2x. So how come you are using Nikon gear here? ……..

Anurag – sorry about my dyslexia on the Nikon D2x. I used it, liked it, and then moved to Canon Mark IIIs. Love the new gear. Dick

Beautiful shot. The colors on the rock face give a warm glow in contrast to the cold of the snow.

Excellent shot. Don’t you just love Yosemite? One of the best national parks in the US (apart from maybe Denali and Arches). The light in your picture is great.

For me this is Winter on the misty shores of Avalon. Alas, it’s El Capitan! What a vision of lovliness! Impressive! Great POTD!!
