Anise Swallowtail on Sage

I like to think of myself as a landscape photographer more than anything else, but it seems like a lot of wildlife has wandered in front of my lens lately. What I search for most is unusual light to combine with the nice locations I find myself in - so sometimes I think maybe I'm getting halfway decent at being a "light" photographer.

Clear shot, but if there is a contrast between the butterfly and the background it will be more strong, nice shot, good luck

That is a wonderful. It is very clean clear shot and all the subject is in focus. I like the angle at which this marvelous creature resides in. Great shot Anise.

Good placement of the butterfly. I Like the alignment of the flowering shoots and the butterfly along parallel axes. The brightest shoot back in the distance is a distraction.

beautiful colours and excellent clarity!…

The spring is dancing nature !

The reason this picture works so well is the short depth of field and the fact that all the colors go together so well. There is nothing loud and no clashes. Also your butterfly placement complies to the rule of thirds; sometimes off center works better than slap bang in the middle. You don’t need more contrast; you’ll overcook the shot.

‘halfway decent..”Charlene, you underestimate yourself! This is Beautiful. The stillness of the butterfly looks as if one can touch it & it will fly away.

Very sharp, very colorful. Compositionwise I would rather have seen the butterfly in the bottom righthandside. Anyway, a great picture!
