The Japanese Monkey Emperor retires to the Royal Hot Springs bathing facilities. A highly unusual catch indeed….

  2. Anurag Anurag Says:

    Such human looking.
Though I know how difficult it is to get the perfect camera setting insuch split second moments, I guess you needed a higher ISO to achieve a faster shutter and slightly more DOF. Just a thought.
Neverthless you have managed excellently well to capture this moment.

  8. Renee Renee Says:

    Incredible shot! congrats

  9. Kirk Jordan Says:

Anurag, please pardon my disagreement, but I think the slight suggestion of motion, in combination with the tack sharp eye-nose focus and shallow depth of field is perfect.

And what a powerful suggestion of our shared creature-hood.

  10. Andrew Andrew Says:

LOL, thats nice :D . Hope she’s not gonna drown.

  11. Anurag Anurag Says:

Precisely Kirk. But if you see carefully there is a hint of motion blur in the eyes/nose and the actual point of focus is in front of the face, i.e. on the water droplets. That is why I would have gone for maybe 2/3 stop narrower aperture and 1/3 faster shutter. Neverthless all this is just like splitting hair. In the end its a great image.

  12. Pauline Jones Pauline Jones Says:
