This is one of 13 images taken on March 11th, 2008 of the space shuttle Endeavour. This was a rare night launch. This image was taken from the NASA Causeway 6 miles from PAD39A - Kennedy Space Centre. 13 images were taken with in a 8 second time frame!!
Equipment: Sony alpha700 DSLR, Sony Gseries 300 mm F2.8 lens, 1.4X Teleconverter (420mm)

Wonderful night shot. I have always wanted to photograph the Space Shuttle and at it night makes it a little more special. Maybe next year ;-)

Nice shot, …..I like the echo of shape between the watertank and the overall shape formed by the shuttle and the reflection of its plume

Could have cropped a little from the sides.

Whenever I go to Florida I think of how awesome it would be to see a launch like this much less get a photo (as great) as this!
Having the equipment and knowing how to get the best image shows in this one. WELL DONE!

It was a bit stressful several minutes prior to launch! I was worried that someone would hit my tripod! As for the comment about cropping the sides of the image a bit more, it is a good point. Thank you. It was a great event to witness in person. I am glad I used a shutter release so I could watch the launch.

Beautiful. Clearly a winner. I might try cropping a little off the lower reflections, and giving the shuttle more space in which to fly. But it’s really great the way it is. Thank-you.
