Love is in the Air

by Richard Dumoulin

Though once abundant over much of North America and Eurasia, the gray wolf inhabits a very small portion of its former range because of widespread destruction of its habitat, human encroachment of its habitat, and the resulting human-wolf encounters that sparked broad extirpation. Considered as a whole, however, the gray wolf is regarded as being of least concern for extinction according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. Today, wolves are protected in some areas, hunted for sport in others, or may be subject to extermination as perceived threats to livestock and pets. This photo was taken at the Montreal Ecomuseum as wolf tend to be hard to approach in the wild (and hard to find) :)

Who would blame the poor animals for being hard to find? Wolves have a very intricate and sophisticated society; they deserve our respect.

So sad that we are hunting them…. I love this shot though! It reminds me a little of a mix of the shot I think was called “white on white” of a swan and a shot with two or three wildcats in a similar position as these wolves. Congratulations!

I love this picture. Sometimes you think that animals are capable of showing each other more love than human.

Nice shot. Perfect moment. A little too tight as the tops of the heads got cut off.

I greatly admire wolves, much maligned wild animals who deserve their place in this world. This photograph shows a side to them that is rarely seen. It conveys tenderness and feeling. It is very touching.Richard you have a great shot here/this image has soul.

It’s a lovely scene and these wolves are beautiful. For some reason this photo isn’t tack-sharp to me. Maybe it’s my eyes. What glass did you use? And did you use a tripod?
