Remarkable photograph and you gave it the perfect name! It conveys mood and the natural colors and textures in the very large driftwood with the somber gray backdrop of sea and sky make this scene very menacing!

I didn’t know that Robinson Crusoe had been isolated in Washington State. Great shot, full of natural strength.

Very moody indeed … worth the effort for braving the elements.

What a great photo! Shooting with the driftwood
as a frame nicely frames the ominous weather
and the rocky coast.

I especially like the water – did you use a longer exposure time to get that effect ? Anyways, I definitely like how it seems there’s a thin layer of fog on top of the water, which is probably the foam. A great shot otherwise !

Now this is a really good composition.

The gray in the back ground make this picture. It just shows you,if you have an eye, you can find a great picture.

The salt mist must have been horrible. How do you protect your 5D in this type of environment? Great shot, by the way.

This is AWESOME! While it may have been seen before, it’s difficulty and astonishing breathtaking power seems enduring. I absolutely LOVE this photo. I agree that there is great potential for a painting.

Great subject matter and a very unique color scheme.

Nice – some interesting light, perhaps you lit it up a bit? Very foreboding scene.

love this shot. was it processed in HDR? has that sort of look to it, with the foreground being brighter than the rest. one minor nit… just my personal preference, but the stump in the foreground seems a bit too centered. perhaps a step or two to the right…

i’ve been to Rialto Beach a number of times, and it’s on my list of places to go back to.
