this is an absolutely gorgeous image—I love the way the trees seem to be huddling together (for warmth perhaps? ;-)

Anyhow, this is great—I can’t believe it doesn’t have a dozen comments!

I hope you have a hi-res version of this.

This is the best photo I’ve ever seen on this web-site.

Nature struggling against nature. At first glance, the scene looks simple. The deeper you look at this photo, the more you appreciate what the photographer has captured.

A very very elegant composition. I like the over all kite like shape of the trees. The infra red look. I also like the way the negative spaces of the sky and sand have been managed by darkening the corners. The tonal texture is also noteworthy.

The sensation of winter the slight shadows on the snow and just the tress no further details, this is just great. Selecting black and white for this image made it just perfect. It has more impact

Compositon is really good and I like the atmosphere of the picture. In my honest opinion you underexposed 1 stop or 1,5 stops though. The snow looks greyish instead of white. I understand you like to keep some texture in the snow, but snow should be brighter than this. Anyway, still a very nice shot.

A very nice shot and a nice change to see a mono image up here.

There have been some spectacular pictures on Earthshots lately but they do leave me wondering what the non mountain climbing, non deep sea diving members who can’t afford to travel to exotic places can contribute. You’ve shown us the way.

Superbe, un ballet… Applause !

One of the best image I’ve seen latly on Earthshots. Many spectacular images choosen by the team are somehow missing of the little something that makes a photo special, beside beeing spectacular. Well, that’s my opinion and I share it :-) Double congrats for this one, sooooo beautiful !

I, like everyone else, am quite impressed, yet slightly surprised no one has mentioned how reminiscent this beautiful shot is of Ansel Adams. This is very good. I would think it an honor to have such a comparison…;)

Striking. Black on white. I almost expect a cranium black crow to fly into this photo. Amazing.

with the background almost the same as the ground, the emphasis is all on the form of trees; Also shows the freshness of the snow with the snow on the branches. This is the beauty takes your breath away on a snowy morning.
