Light pollution on the Mont Blanc
by Jonathan Griffith
Light pollution reflected off Europe’s highest mountain massif, the Mont Blanc. The lights from more than 3500m below coupled with the full moon gives the convoluted glaciers an other-worldly glow.
Equipment: Canon 5d, 24-105L
Jonathan Griffith
My photogrpahy work comes almost exclusively from the mountain environment. I am deeply passionate about capturing moments where man and nature interact - if I could encourage just one person to leave their desk job behind and see what there is to experience in the mountains then I would be over the moon.

Is that Chamonix down there? I went there as a child when my father was teaching me to be a photographer. He used to buy outdated films to save money but we still have lots of great slides.

  7. Jonathan Griffith Says:

    Hi guys
Many thanks for the kind comments. Chamonix is actually to my right as the lights in the distance come from one of the larger towns much further down the valley. Was a cold but magical winter night!

thanks again for the comments. It was taken at around 1am in January from about 13,000ft. The Mont Blanc rises up to nearly 15,000ft. It’s just displayed as it was shot- no HDR or photoshop trickery

Again, thanks for the kind comments. The aperature was fully open as it was a bit windy on the ridge i was standing on. ISO at 100 and shutter speed at 30 sec. Took a few shots to get it sharp but i think it was worth it
