Turtle

I like the composition of the photo with the reflection. Diagonally shooted, so we can see trees, clouds and sky.

Hi, I’m a marine biology student in France, and I’m actually working on sharks. I’m professional diver, and I really love underwater photography, in scuba diving and in freediving.

This is really, really great. The idea of shooting diagonally is superb. Colors are extraordinary. Reflection is great awell. One of the best pics on this site so far imho. Well done!

I like turtles. I have owned more than one turtle over the course of many years, and I am pleased to see a turtle become the topic of EarthShots.

Beautiful color, light, saturation and detail.

All that being said, this photo presents an unususual perspective. It’s difficult to determine which way is up. It seems to make the photo somewhat abstract when I think the subject might have been better served being presented realistically.

Wonderful photo! Life imitating art? Are we seeing the world as the turtle sees it when he is in the water? This is a great opportunity for a story starter for those of you who write or teach language arts.

I’ve been enjoying these photos for over a year now without commenting and once i saw this i couldnt help but finally say a word or two. This almost looks CGI for Finding Nemo 2 or soemthing to know that it was an actual photo shows me the amazing capabilities of modern day photography. I’ve only recently started shooting photos of things other than friends and family with ok results using a simple 7.2 MP Sony camera and even the results i’m getting there are encouraging. When i start to “train my eye” a little better and learn more of the tech i will start to submit some phots thanks for all the inspiration especially you Thomas. Keep up the good work everyone!

Ian, I’m sure you can do great things with your sony, I won some potd with a 5mpx compact camera, just try and try again and try always, and enjoy it
